Perfecting the 8 Limbs of Yoga
Anyone who has been introduced to yoga soon learns that Asanas (postures) and Pranayama (breathing) are but two of it’s practices. Those two are actually part of the eight subjects that are known as Ashtanga Yoga, or the Eight Limbs of Yoga. One of the most famous books from India, “The Yoga Sutras” by Patanjali describes all these limbs in great detail. This series will lead you to the path of freedom walked by all the great sages and yogis who came before us. Under normal circumstances you would have to spend many years to acquire the knowledge and vision these classes reveal. These rare classes will reveal powerful insights, inspire profound meditations and create a background of philosophical understanding to support your yogic practice and search for truth. |

The Yoga of Fire and Light Kundalini is Sanskrit for the life force and refers metaphorically to the coiled serpent of energy that lies at the base of the spine. The ascent of the kundalini within our own body also refers to the soul’s return journey back to the transcendental realms. The great Vedic yogis and Rishis of India have clearly articulated the differences between the material and transcendental realms. Through yogic and tantric practices the kundalini can be reawakened to allow for greater selfexpression, leading ultimately to self-actualization or moksha, liberation.

In the Vedic teachings the swan, or Hamsa, is a symbol of the aspiring soul who yearns for divine connection. In this first of a 6 part series, Kavindra Rishi explains that like the swan, we need to learn how to glide across the waters of the material world, choose to live only in the cleanest of waters, associate with others with that divine yearning and develop the skill, as the Vedic supreme swans – the Parama Hamsas – can, of separating milk from water when the two are mixed. In other words, we need to live with discernment within the material world so that we do not become poisoned by it. |

In Spiritual Teachings of the Avatar, author Jeffrey Armstrong enlightens readers on the meaning of the word Avatar and relevance of the original Avatars of India in today’s world. An Avatar—a Divine Being that descends from the transcendental realm to restore peace and harmony to the earth—is a manifestation of the Ultimate Being that can appear at will in human or animal form. According to Indian tradition, when Mother Nature has been harmed by the actions of humans, Avatars come to Earth to restore the karmic balance while showing humans the way back to the higher realms. Collected from Vedic spiritual traditions of India that can be traced back more than 15,000 years, Armstrong illuminates how contemporary cultural references to Avatars reveal their deep and enlightening historical roots. At the heart of these teachings is a respect for all life, the concept that we are each part of the same Ultimate Being, and that everyone is able to makes the journey back home to the Divine. With the social, economic, environmental, and political unrest in the world today, these lessons from the Avatar are more important than ever. Spiritual Teachings of the Avatar speaks to anyone concerned with the sustainability of Mother Earth, the role of elders in our society, the seemingly unconsciousness of science and corporations, and the subtleties of unseen realities, resulting in spiritual growth, a deeper relationship with nature, and a better world for all. An Avatar is a manifestation of the Supreme Being—usually in human form—that descends from the transcendental realm to Earth to heal the planet and restore peace and harmony by eliminating the harmful souls that prey on Mother Earth. In Spiritual Teachings of the Avatar, Vedic expert and teacher Jeffrey Armstrong explains the ancient Indian wisdoms embodied in the word “avatar,” and that behind the notion of avatar is a view that sees the sacredness of all life and the soul of all beings as eternal—meant for freedom and made of divine essence. |

What we usually call science and think of as mechanical cause and effect has long been viewed by Enlightened Masters as the purposeful action of countless devas or divine being, who surround us in all we do and constantly deliver the results of our actions. These long secret laws of karma, excavated from the Vedic wisdom of India, will inform your actions and encourage your spiritual vision to see how profoundly all that exists is interconnected in a sacred web of life.
