VASA The Vedic Academy of Sciences & Arts is inviting you to a dinner honoring Kavindra Rishi | Jeffrey Armstrong

We would be most honored if you could attend in person or virtually.

Guru Puja is a very special time for the teacher and his students. It is a private time when the satsang comes together once a year to honor the teacher and prepare for the next year’s teaching endeavors. This is the only time of year that Jeffrey allows his students to offer their felicitations in the traditional guru puja style.

 An Act of Generosity

Every year the Vedic culture of India observes a sacred day known as Guru Puja. All Vedic teachers and their students honor that day as a time to show their gratitude for receiving yogic wisdom from the long line of historical teachers who, with great care and at complete personal sacrifice, each gave their lives to preserving the ancient teachings.

This year we at VASA completed and released a refined and clarified translation of the Bhagavad Gita. We hope you already have the hard and soft-bound versions of the Bhagavad Gita Comes Alive: A Radical Translation. Now it is time to find creative and non-intrusive ways to help the Gita circulate throughout the world.

We do not want you to sell the Gita, as that would not create the right mood of sharing Vedic Vidya. Instead, we are instituting a program called Give the Gift of a Gita. We are asking each of our students to buy a case of Gitas at a discount and then to give them to libraries, schools, and of course, to friends in your circle of acquaintance. Any library is grateful to receive books. In your circle of acquaintance, you will know to whom to gift them and when.

Not everyone will be able to afford to purchase a full case or have the friends who would be receptive. But, when you sponsor a case, VASA will make sure the right students have access to them so that they will be able to give them to friends and associates. This way, they too will experience the joy of gifting a Gita! Each case is 16 books and when you purchase a case at wholesale you receive 30% off.

If you are a student in this group who would like to help distribute the Gita, please contact Sandi and we will get some books to you as they become available.

Maybe you cannot buy 16 books all at once, so think of the times during the year that you do need to show up with a gift. Bring a Gita and a flower!

7:30 - Sandi will welcome everyone and give a brief overview of VASA projects

7:45-8:30 - Guruji Welcomes the students & talks about the importance of Guru Puja (45 min talk)

8:30 - Felicitation | to Guruji Guru. Chant begins

9:35 - Final words from Guruji (5 minute)

9:40 - Dessert, Social time & photos

1. Please write your sentiments and put them in an envelope before you come and you will have a chance to give it directly to Kavindra Rishi. (make sure it's signed)
2. It is customary to wear white or ashram attire, to be freshly showered, and to bring an offering according to ones’ means.
3. After a wonderful feast (prasad), we will begin the program.
