This is an ancient mantra  is also known as the Sāvitri Mantra, is a highly revered mantra from the Rig Veda (Mandala 3.62.10), dedicated to Savitri, the deity of five elements.

Gayatri mantra is known as the great protector (tri) of our life and all life on Earth (Gaya or Gaia) Om Bhu Bhuva sva means that this is true everywhere, past present and future, above, middle, below, in mind, body and soul. Tat Savitur Vareniyam means that adorable or worshipable light of the Sun. The Sun globe is male and is called Surya. His female partner is Savitri, who manifests as the effulgence of light and heat. Bhargo Devasya Dhimahi means that we who are chanting the mantra are of the same Divine nature as the Sun. Diyo Yona Prachodayat. We adore that great light so we may become just like it, so our consciousness becomes clear and bright.
