The great lineage mystic poets did not end with Rumi or Hafiz, with Tagore or Kabeer
It continues in the halls of devotion, where the sangha or spiritual community gathers to commune, to sing and to enter into ananda (bliss) together.
This is the Inaugural Event for the ‘Bhakti Poets Society’, whose mission is to amplify Bhakti (devotional) poetry and bring its much needed medicine to this world.
Bhakti poetry is deeply emotional, devotional, and expressive, focusing on themes of divine love, surrender, and spiritual awakening. Events like these bring together poets, performers, and enthusiasts to share poetry, music, and discussions that embody the teachings and spirit of the Bhakti tradition.
The inaugural event of the 'Bhakti Poets Society' seeks to elevate Bhakti (devotional) poetry and offer its healing presence to the world. It will showcase some of Vancouver's most renowned mystic poets, accompanied by kirtan and devotional music that spans both traditional and modern styles.
Led by Raamayan Ananda, the founder of the kirtan band Sacr3d, and Kavindra Rishi (Jeffrey Armstrong), our own celebrated Vedanta master, award winning poet, and elder, who has written over 3000 poems of different genres.
His book ‘Dreaming the Countless Worlds: An Epic Creation Story” recently won the 2024 American Fiction Award for Poetry!
Raamayan is in the process of publishing his first major work of poetry called ‘The Book of Love’ . For the first time ever, he will be sharing select poems from this powerful collection with the audience, offering an exclusive preview of the heartfelt and transformative verses to come.
Come and bring your most comfortable shawl and an open heart willing to receive the keys and gems of devotion.
Jeffrey Armstrong will begin the evening by sharing the meanings of the different Rasa’s: the ‘flavors’ or ‘moods’ of love in the Bhakti Yoga tradition and set the stage for the reception of something very special.
Sandi-Ji will bring her special chai and samosas which will be available by donation.
For this Thanks Giving weekend, we begin by giving thanks to the Beloved through Bhakti.
