I Tried to Speak of Love

I used to speak of love with bravado,
Carelessly writing thoughts, I didn`t know,

It seemed the meanings of words and emotions fit,
As if their differences could be resolved with wit.

Stretched and pulled, I overlooked the gaps
And fell into a hundred linguistic traps.

But now, I stand at the edge of a great abyss,
Trying to describe the feeling of your kiss,

As if I saw the stars of endless space
And learned to fly there in your sweet embrace,

Would anyone believe I really went?
Or grasp the innuendo that I meant?

Could I be true to you and be love`s scribe?
Or would I betray the love I wished to describe?

The answer I was seeking has flown away,
I tried to speak of love but lost my way.
